Back view of getting fitted for the butt piece
There was a fabric silent auction, and Ceara and I went to look at it just after I had been given the finished hose. The church was now around 65F, and I was sleepy and cold. Pulled the hose on and a minute later I had to take my hood off. Ceara was cold so she wore it around for a while and looked very cute. I was so happy with my new hose that I took them around to the few people I knew and showed off the pointy toes and the weird seams on the butt. (Heck, I showed all the judges and passers-by that wandered by the cool pointy toes and the weird seams on my butt. Those hose are darn cool!)

Signy shoes off undies and hose!
One of the teams next to us vanished shortly after time started, and didn't come back for hours. We were a little concerned. There was something going on at the civic center (nearby), and there were homeless people trying to sell parking spaces they had no right to, and we were concerned that homeless people had tried to sell that team or something. But eventually they came back. They had cleverly gone to a hotel for three hours of sleep after a full day of work.

Virithos in quite the color combination. Tunic and belt are regular garb, hose and hood are for the competition. 6:41 am. (a better pic of me )

Ceara and I chatted and kept Signy company as she tablet wove. Signy was making garters with a pattern inspired by a find pictured in one of the Museum of London books she has. The origional was silk, but besides the cost, silk is way too finicky for something that has to be done quickly. She wove an amazing amount. There was only one other team who tablet wove, all the other on-site weaving was inkle weaving, and if you want to hear a rant on that, talk to Signy, she does it a lot better than I do :-)

Everybody watch Gwyn! "The silk ribbon gets sewn here…"
I was bored of sitting on the floor, so I pulled my sheepskin over by Signy. Ceara was wrapped in my blanket. I laid down to stretch my back. Ceara asked if she could borrow a corner of my sheepskin, and I said yes. The next thing I knew Ceara and I were waking up, and I was quite warm (my legs were mostly under the blanket, and those hose are so nice and warm...). I got more sleep than anyone else on the team, and I'm sure I missed quite a bit of the good stuff. Besides missing a lot of the sewing.

We were all getting punchy. I wish I'd written down all the really funny things that were said so that I could determine if they are still funny with not as much sleep. I suspect some of them are, and I wish I remembered them...
Breakfast was insanely late, like 8. They had egg pie with meat chunks in it and fruit and marshmallow salad. The salad was more popular than they had anticipated, but I got the last bits scraped out of the bowl. Many of us ate together.
I woke up some. Everyone was busy sewing, but I couldn't tell you what they were doing. I have a remarkable lack of memory for most of Saturday, whodathunkit?

Keina sews silk ribbon around a neckline
The race for the buttons: First, the dyed silk ribbon had to be applied. Wide ribbon to reinforce the button holes, and narrow ribbon around the neckline. Most of the team worked on that. I think we were down to hand-sewing around lunchtime!
