Route 5 Shooting

Man who was shot on Minneapolis bus is in critical condition

Completely lame. I don't ride the Route 5 (well, I did once or twice) since there seems to be an incident on it at least yearly, if not more often.

Routes extended to the north metro suburbs that require a trip on the 5 to reach downtown will fail because of the safety concern. I'm a huge transit supporter, but I'm not going to be able to ride a bus that has a reputation of being rowdy.

I'd love to bike/scooter to my nearest transit hub and use it on the weekend to visit my brother in North Minneapolis, visit museums downtown, or go to MoA -- but this situation where I don't know if it is going to be friendly and safe is a huge image problem. Metro Transit needs to improve the environment on this route.
