3 people who are potentially going to make large decisions on the budget met today. If citizens take effort voting in representatives, why does Pawlenty want to come up with budget targets between a small group of party leaders instead of letting our legislators do their jobs? Why bother debating healthcare if someone higher up has already agreed to it for you into a zero-sum game of screw the poor?
DFL Senate Majority Leader Dean Johnson wants to have members meet in conference committees to come up with compromises. As far as I can tell from Pawlentys' tactics he wants to do this all up front, at the top. He expects Dean Johnson to participate in this fiat to legislators and Johnson is instead deferring to individuals and conference committees.
If you intend this to be a substantive offer in response to ours, where should we look for the substance in your offer?
-- Tim Pawlenty
Why elect a representative if they are just going to defer to the Governor on the budget, again?
