Minneapolis/Crosstown

Recently, Minneapolis used their option of municipal consent to oppose the current plans for the Crosstown expansion. I'm basically in support -- It makes no sense to spend all this money on fixed guideways and station space but not actually put in the transit station or provide reasonable service between Minneapolis and points south.

I feel that Freeway expansion plans need to start showing the amount of land -- whether it is within the utilities service area or not -- they will be opening up to development due to average commute time savings. Then, this data should be used to show growth patterns and show how quickly the upgrades are ineffective.

In short, Minneapolis has the right idea -- the time for stopping this madness is now. We can't keep coming half-way on transit options for commuters and ignoring that Freeway expansion doesn't actually fix all the problems.
